TPAN Supports "For The People Act"

Austin, TX - Today, the U.S. House introduced the democracy reform package H.R. 1 – the For the People Act.
Among the list of reforms H.R. 1 brings to the table —
provides automatic voter registration
combats the corrosive influence of money in our politics
combats gerrymandering and supports an independent process for drawing voting districts
restores key elements of the Voting Rights Act
Texas Progressive Action Network has and will continue to support this critical legislation and issues this statement:
“With the reintroduction of the For The People Act (H.R. 1), lawmakers have an opportunity to fight for democracy reforms that can uproot the power of big money in politics, that can expand and protect voting rights, and that can also create a government that ensures we can all be heard.
“We are proud to support this legislation and we know that passing the For the People Act is the right first step toward a new vision of leadership and governing that can give a stronger voice to the American people.”
