Our 88th Regular Legislative Session Review Is Now Available!

Today Our Vote Texas releases our 88th Legislative Session Review detailing our advocacy work in the regular session that took place earlier this year as well as our goals for legislative sessions in future years.

Please note that subsequent special sessions called by the Governor of Texas with a focus on Texas voter rights, Texas elections and/or education will require an addendum to be added at the completion of that special legislative session that documents our continued work.

Important highlights from our review:

  • Our Vote Texas tracked 166 bills this past regular session.

  • We took action on 38 bills that dealt with Texas voting and elections ranging from voting access, to increased penalties, to election infrastructure and administration.

  • We submitted testimony and/or written remarks on nine bills during the regular legislative session, including testimony to urge lawmakers to boost the voter ID education funding in the House and Senate budget proposals.

  • In addition to operating our #txlege Action Alerts center where advocates could participate in and share current calls to action for the legislature, we also hosted community events aimed at informing the public about important legislation moving through the process and equipping advocates with ways to engage on these issues and bring in community to take action as well.

  • We’re continuing to work at ways to improve our process and create pathways for even more advocacy in the future!
