Congress Must Provide Robust Funding for the USPS

Along with 100 other groups and organizations, Texas Progressive Action Network calls on lawmakers in Congress to #SaveTheUSPS and provide the necessary funding for the essential workers of the United States Postal Service in the next coronavirus response package.

We recognize the vital role the United States Postal Service plays for underserved communities which here in Texas includes rural populations, elderly and people with disabilities among many others.

The USPS also plays a key role in making sure we have a complete and fair 2020 Census. We depend upon the USPS to reach hard to count populations not just in Texas but across the country. Without a complete count, we will miss out on important funding, representation and accurate data that determines how we implement and evaluate our civil rights laws.

“A vote against adequate, timely funding for this agency is an anti-civil rights vote.” - Vanita Gupta, President and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights
